Abstract
A novel method to achieve arbitrary boundary conditions in bulk acoustic wave acoustophoresis is described. We introduce an additional acoustic layer within a microfluidic channel to achieve boundaries with matched acoustic impedance. The additional acoustic layer, made of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), allows to design unprecedented arbitrary pressure fields for the movement of microparticles such as cells or biologically functionalized beads.
