Measurement of the W+W- cross section in pp collisions at √s= 8 TeV and limits on anomalous gauge couplings
(2016)The European Physical Journal CA measurement of the W boson pair production cross section in proton-proton collisions at s√=8 TeV is presented. The data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.4fb-1. The W+W− candidates are selected from events with two charged leptons, electrons or muons, and large missing transverse energy. The measured W+W− cross section is 60.1±0.9(stat)±3.2(exp)±3.1(theo)±1.6(lumi)\,pb=60.1±4.8\,pb, ...Journal Article -
Search for heavy Majorana neutrinos in μ±μ±+jets and e±e±+jets events in pp collisions at √s =7 TeV
(2012)Physics Letters BA search for excited leptons is carried out with the CMS detector at the LHC, using 36 pb-1 of pp collision data recorded at s=7 TeV. The search is performed for associated production of a lepton and an oppositely charged excited lepton pp→ℓℓ*, followed by the decay ℓ*→ℓγ, resulting in the ℓℓγ final state, where ℓ=e,μ. No excess of events above the standard model expectation is observed. Interpreting the findings in the context of ℓ* ...Journal Article -
Search for dark matter, extra dimensions, and unparticles in monojet events in proton–proton collisions at √s = 8TeV
(2015)The European Physical Journal CResults are presented from a search for particle dark matter (DM), extra dimensions, and unparticles using events containing a jet and an imbalance in transverse momentum. The data were collected by the CMS detector in proton–proton collisions at the LHC and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.7fb-1at a centre-of-mass energy of 8TeV. The number of observed events is found to be consistent with the standard model prediction. Limits ...Journal Article -
Angular analysis of the decay B+→K+μ+μ− in proton-proton collisions at √s=8 TeV
(2018)Physical Review DThe angular distribution of the flavor-changing neutral current decay B+→K+μ+μ− is studied in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV. The analysis is based on data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.5 fb−1. The forward-backward asymmetry AFB of the dimuon system and the contribution FH from the pseudoscalar, scalar, and tensor amplitudes to the decay width are ...Journal Article -
Measurements of the Υ(1S), Υ(2S), and Υ(3S) differential cross sections in pp collisions at √s= 7 TeV
(2015)Physics Letters BDifferential cross sections as a function of transverse momentum pT are presented for the production of ϒ(nS) (n = 1, 2, 3) states decaying into a pair of muons. Data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.9fb−1 in pp collisions at s=7TeV were collected with the CMS detector at the LHC. The analysis selects events with dimuon rapidity |y| <1.2 and dimuon transverse momentum in the range 10 <pT <100GeV. The measurements show a ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the pp to ZZ production cross section and constraints on anomalous triple gauge couplings in four-lepton final states at √s = 8 TeV
(2015)Physics Letters BA measurement of the inclusive ZZ production cross section and constraints on anomalous triple gauge couplings in proton-proton collisions at s=8 TeV are presented. The analysis is based on a data sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.6fb -1, collected with the CMS experiment at the LHC. The measurements are performed in the leptonic decay modes ZZ→ℓℓℓ ' ℓ ', where ℓ = e, μ and ℓ ' = e, μ, τ. The measured total cross ...Journal Article -
Measurement of WZ and ZZ production in pp collisions at √s = 8TeV in final states with b-tagged jets
(2014)The European Physical Journal CMeasurements are reported of the WZ and ZZ production cross sections in proton-proton collisions at s√=8 TeV in final states where one Z boson decays to b-tagged jets. The other gauge boson, either W or Z, is detected through its leptonic decay (either W→eν, μν or Z→e+e−, μ+μ−, or νν¯¯¯). The results are based on data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 18.9 fb−1 collected with the CMS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The ...Journal Article -
Search for Supersymmetry at the LHC in Events with Jets and Missing Transverse Energy
(2011)Physical Review LettersA search for events with jets and missing transverse energy is performed in a data sample of pp collisions collected at √s=7 TeV by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The analyzed data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.14 fb−1. In this search, a kinematic variable αT is used as the main discriminator between events with genuine and misreconstructed missing transverse energy. No excess of events over the standard model ...Journal Article -
Search for New Physics with a Monojet and Missing Transverse Energy in pp Collisions at √s=7 TeV
(2011)Physical Review LettersA study of events with missing transverse energy and an energetic jet is performed using pp collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. The data were collected by the CMS detector at the LHC, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb−1. An excess of these events over standard model contributions is a signature of new physics such as large extra dimensions and unparticles. The number of observed events is in good agreement ...Journal Article -
ϒ(nS) polarizations versus particle multiplicity in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV
(2016)Physics Letters BThe polarizations of the ϒ(1S), ϒ(2S), and ϒ(3S) mesons are measured as a function of the charged particle multiplicity in proton–proton collisions at s=7 TeV. The measurements are performed with a dimuon data sample collected in 2011 by the CMS experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.9 fb−1. The results are extracted from the dimuon decay angular distributions, in two ranges of ϒ(nS) transverse momentum (10–15 and 15–35 ...Journal Article
