Measurement of diffractive dissociation cross sections in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV
(2015)Physical Review DMeasurements of diffractive dissociation cross sections in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV are presented in kinematic regions defined by the masses MX and MY of the two final-state hadronic systems separated by the largest rapidity gap in the event. Differential cross sections are measured as a function of ξX=M2X/s in the region −5.5<log10ξX<−2.5, for log10MY<0.5, dominated by single dissociation (SD), and 0.5<log10MY<1.1, dominated by double ...Journal Article -
Study of Z production in PbPb and pp collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV in the dimuon and dielectron decay channels
(2015)Journal of High Energy PhysicsThe production of Z bosons is studied in the dimuon and dielectron decay channels in PbPb and pp collisions at sNN−−−−√=2.76 TeV, using data collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The PbPb data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of about 166 μb−1, while the pp data sample collected in 2013 at the same nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energy has an integrated luminosity of 5.4 pb−1. The Z boson yield is measured as a function ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the Zγ production cross section in pp collisions at 8 TeV and search for anomalous triple gauge boson couplings
(2015)Journal of High Energy PhysicsThe cross section for the production of Zγ in proton-proton collisions at 8 TeV is measured based on data collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.5 fb−1. Events with an oppositely-charged pair of muons or electrons together with an isolated photon are selected. The differential cross section as a function of the photon transverse momentum is measured inclusively and exclusively, where the ...Journal Article -
Search for physics beyond the standard model in dilepton mass spectra in proton-proton collisions at √s=8 TeV
(2015)Journal of High Energy PhysicsDimuon and dielectron mass spectra, obtained from data resulting from proton-proton collisions at 8 TeV and recorded by the CMS experiment, are used to search for both narrow resonances and broad deviations from standard model predictions. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 20.6 (19.7) fb−1 for the dimuon (dielectron) channel. No evidence for non-standard-model physics is observed and 95% confidence level limits are set ...Journal Article -
Observation of the rare Bs0 →µ+µ− decay from the combined analysis of CMS and LHCb data
(2015)NatureThe standard model of particle physics describes the fundamental particles and their interactions via the strong, electromagnetic and weak forces. It provides precise predictions for measurable quantities that can be tested experimentally. The probabilities, or branching fractions, of the strange B meson ( ) and the B0 meson decaying into two oppositely charged muons (μ+ and μ−) are especially interesting because of their sensitivity to ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the ratio of the production cross sections times branching fractions of Bc ±→ J/ψπ± and B± → J/ψK± and (Formula presented.) in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV
(2015)Journal of High Energy Physicshe ratio of the production cross sections times branching fractions (σ(B±c)B(B±c→J/ψπ±))/(σ(B±)B(B±→J/ψK±)) is studied in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC. The kinematic region investigated requires B c ± and B± mesons with transverse momentum p T > 15 GeV and rapidity |y| < 1.6. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 5.1 fb−1. The ratio is determined to be ...Journal Article -
Search for supersymmetry with photons in pp collisions at √s = 8 TeV
(2015)Physical Review DTwo searches for physics beyond the standard model in events containing photons are presented. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb−1 of proton-proton collisions at √s=8 TeV, collected with the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC. The analyses pursue different inclusive search strategies. One analysis requires at least one photon, at least two jets, and a large amount of transverse momentum imbalance, while ...Journal Article
