Strange particle production in pp collisions at √s=0.9 and 7 TeV
(2011)Journal of High Energy PhysicsThe spectra of strange hadrons are measured in proton-proton collisions, recorded by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC, at centre-of-mass energies of 0.9 and 7 TeV. The K0S, Λ, and Ξ− particles and their antiparticles are reconstructed from their decay topologies and the production rates are measured as functions of rapidity and transverse momentum, p T. The results are compared to other experiments and to predictions of the Pythia Monte ...Journal Article -
Search for supersymmetry in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV in events with a single lepton, jets, and missing transverse momentum
(2011)Journal of High Energy PhysicsResults are reported from a search for physics beyond the standard model in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, focusing on the signature with a single, isolated, high-transverse-momentum lepton (electron or muon), energetic jets, and large missing transverse momentum. The data sample comprises an integrated luminosity of 36 pb−1, recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The search is motivated by models of new ...Journal Article -
Search for B0s→μ+μ− and B0→μ+μ− Decays in pp Collisions at √s=7 TeV
(2011)Physical Review LettersA search for the rare decays B0s→μ+μ− and B0→μ+μ− is performed in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV, with a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.14 fb−1, collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC. In both cases, the number of events observed after all selection requirements is consistent with expectations from background and standard-model signal predictions. The resulting upper limits on the branching fractions are ...Journal Article -
Dijet Azimuthal Decorrelations in pp Collisions at √s=7 TeV
(2011)Physical Review LettersMeasurements of dijet azimuthal decorrelations in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV using the CMS detector at the CERN LHC are presented. The analysis is based on an inclusive dijet event sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.9 pb−1. The results are compared to predictions from perturbative QCD calculations and various Monte Carlo event generators. The dijet azimuthal distributions are found to be sensitive to initial-state gluon ...Journal Article -
Search for Pair Production of First-Generation Scalar Leptoquarks in pp Collisions at √s=7 TeV
(2011)Physical Review LettersA search for pair production of first-generation scalar leptoquarks is performed in the final state containing two electrons and two jets using proton-proton collision data at √s=7 TeV. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 33 pb−1 collected with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC. The number of observed events is in good agreement with the predictions for the standard model background processes, and an upper ...Journal Article -
Measurements of inclusive W and Z cross sections in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV
(2011)Journal of High Energy PhysicsMeasurements of inclusive W and Z boson production cross sections in pp collisions at s√=7 TeV are presented, based on 2.9 pb−1 of data recorded by the CMS detector at the LHC. The measurements, performed in the electron and muon decay channels, are combined to give σ(pp→WX)×B(W→ℓν)=9.95±0.07(stat.)±0.28(syst.)±1.09 (lumi.) nb and σ(pp→ZX)×B(Z→ℓ+ℓ−)=0.931±0.026(stat.)±0.023(syst.)±0.102 (lumi.) nb, where ℓ stands for either e or μ. ...Journal Article -
Search for physics beyond the standard model in opposite-sign dilepton events in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV.
(2011)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search is presented for physics beyond the standard model (SM) in final states with opposite-sign isolated lepton pairs accompanied by hadronic jets and missing transverse energy. The search is performed using LHC data recorded with the CMS detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 34 pb−1. No evidence for an event yield beyond SM expectations is found. An upper limit on the non-SM contribution to the signal region is deduced ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the Bs0 Production Cross Section with Bs0→J/ψϕ Decays in pp Collisions at √s=7 TeV
(2011)Physical Review DThe B0s differential production cross section is measured as functions of the transverse momentum and rapidity in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV, using the B0s→J/ψϕ decay, and compared with predictions based on perturbative QCD calculations at next-to-leading order. The data sample, collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC, corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 40 pb−1. The B0s is reconstructed from the decays J/ψ→μ+μ− and ϕ→K+K−. The ...Journal Article -
Search for a Vectorlike Quark with Charge 2/3 in t+Z Events from pp Collisions at √s=7 TeV
(2011)Physical Review LettersA search for pair-produced heavy vectorlike charge-2/3 quarks, T, in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, is performed with the CMS detector at the LHC. Events consistent with the flavor-changing-neutral-current decay of a T quark to a top quark and a Z boson are selected by requiring two leptons from the Z-boson decay, as well as an additional isolated charged lepton. In a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the tt ̄ production cross section in pp collisions at 7 TeV in lepton+jets events using b-quark jet identification
(2011)Physical Review DA new measurement of the inclusive production cross section for pp→t¯t is performed at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV using data collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The analysis uses a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb−1, and is based on the final state with one isolated, high transverse momentum muon or electron, missing transverse energy, and hadronic jets. The t¯t content of the selected events ...Journal Article
